When we started our product range, many years ago, we realised there was a problem in building large quantities of bowsers if all designs were different. As we manufacture many different types of bowsers and storage tanks, from the outset we decided to adhere to a design whereby all the chassis, undergear, wheels hitches etc. where exactly the same for each model and therefore interchangeable.
For example, we can select a chassis the correct size for either a 1000 Litre or 2000 Litre bowser, and literally build a bowser to any specification simply by adding the wheels, undergear, pumping equipment etc.
This concept has not come easy but has taken many years to develop. Our design gives the customer the benefits of being able to change the tanks or the trailers to suit market forces.
It also affords us the confidence of knowing that every bowser sold has identical parts and therefore identical spares when required. At the point of sale, a Specification/Order Acknowledgement sheet is made out listing every item on the unit (for the customer’s record as well as ours) and cross-reference with its own serial number.
At any time in the future we can identify the bowser by the serial number and supply the correct spares for the customer.
There are many types of bowsers, but the most popular ones that we sell are described in detail as follows:
Highway Bowser
The Highway Bowser, whether it be a 1000 Litre or a 2000 Litre unit, is designed to be towed on the highway. The Basic chassis unit is manufactured fr4om galvanised Rolled Hollow Section and is fitted with a single axle with leaf spring suspension unit. The unit has overrun and lockable parking brake, and a hydraulically damped towing unit, with a 40mm eye or 50mm ball hitch and a heavy duty jockey wheel. Wheels are fitted, underneath galvanised steel mudguards (2 x185 x 14″ x 8 ply for the 1000 Litre Models and 2 x 750 x 16″ x 12 ply for the 2000 Litre Model).
Our standard lighting board is supplied, wired through the chassis and connected to an international 7- pin plug. A rear prop stand is fitted as standard.
Site Bowser
The Site Bowser is designed primarily for off-road use. Although the galvanised chassis unit is the same as for the highway model, this unit, whether it be the 1000 Litre or 200 Litre model is fitted with a single rigid un braked axle with a welded agricultural towing eye. In lace of the jockey wheel is a screw jack, and there are no mudguards. The 1000 Litre Model is fitted with 2 x 750 x 16″ x 8 ply wheels and tyres. A prop stand is supplied to the rear of the unit.
From these two basic designs we can manufacture any Bowser within our product range.
